About this workshop

Saturday, September 12th, 3:00 - 6:00 PM If you've ever watched stand up comedy and thought, "I could do that!" this workshop is for you. In this fun, friendly and fast-paced 3-hour workshop, you'll harvest your life for material, learn some joke types, and put it all together, so you can have something to bring to your next open mic. No previous stand up experience required, but it is helpful if you are aware of your own flaws, struggles, or quirks. Jennifer Mason of JenX Comedy has been performing, producing, and teaching stand up for 8 years. She is currently in the World Series of Comedy and has performed all over the country and in the Burbank Festival. While her own comedy revolves around her experiences teaching middle schoolers, being best friends with her cat, she is particularly gifted at finding the material in other people's lives for their first stand up set. No Pre-req: No prior experience needed in standup or improv. --- A limited number of reduced price registration is available for this class on a first come first serve basis. These are for students according to need to increase access to our classes. See our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion page for more details.
