Chris Colthurst

Chris “Jazz” Colthurst has spent more than 25 years immersed in improvisational theater as a student, performer, teacher, and community builder. His improv journey began with San Diego TheatreSports, and over the years, he continued his training with National Comedy Theatre and BATS Improv in San Francisco. He has performed on multiple indie teams at Finest City Improv, most notably HUSKY, widely regarded (by themselves) as the sexiest improv team in San Diego. After the pandemic, Jazz joined the newly formed Mockingbird Improv as a performer and teacher and now serves on the theater’s board of directors. Outside the improv world, Jazz has spent decades designing and supporting infrastructure for large-scale internet sites, including time at Comic-Con International. It was during that experience that the idea for ImprovCon was born: a convention dedicated to celebrating and advancing the entire improv ecosystem.
